- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is cooked through.
- In a large bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased casserole dish.
- Spread the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Pour half of the soup mixture over the beef.
- Layer the remaining potatoes on top, followed by the rest of the soup mixture.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
- Feel free to substitute ground turkey for a leaner option.
- This casserole can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
