- 14 oz firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture thoroughly. Slice it into bite-sized cubes.
- Blend soy sauce and cornstarch in a mixing bowl until smooth.
- Toss the tofu cubes in the soy-cornstarch mixture until coated.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat and add the tofu cubes.
- Fry the tofu until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- Combine maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and salt and pepper in a bowl to make the sauce.
- Pour the sauce into the pan with tofu and toss gently. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce reduces and becomes sticky.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.
Notes
For best results, press tofu before cooking and avoid overcrowding the pan. Customize with your favorite vegetables.
