- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into small pieces to shape into mini baguettes.
- Place the shaped baguettes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Make slashes on top of the baguettes and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
- For a more crusty texture, place a pan of water in the oven while baking.
- These baguettes can be frozen for later use.
- Experiment with adding herbs or cheese to the dough for different flavors.
