- 1 packet of puff pastry
- 2 cups of milk
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of cornstarch
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Icing sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into rectangles to fit your baking dish.
- Place half of the pastry rectangles on a baking sheet and bake until golden brown.
- In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Once the custard has cooled, spread it over the baked pastry base.
- Top with the remaining pastry rectangles and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Allow to cool completely before dusting with icing sugar and serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add a bit of butter to the custard mixture.
- Make sure to let the slice cool completely before cutting for cleaner slices.
- This dessert can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
