Description
A one-dish wonder combining spicy sausage, al dente rotini pasta, and a luscious, sticky BBQ sauce for a delightful meal in no time.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz Rotini Pasta
- 12 oz Spicy Sausage (Andouille or Italian), sliced
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 cup BBQ Sauce (smoky or honey-based)
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder or Cayenne Pepper
- Salt & Pepper
- Fresh Parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the rotini pasta and cook according to package instructions until it reaches perfect al dente. Once ready, drain and set aside.
- Cook the Sausage: While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in your large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until it transforms into a beautifully browned and caramelized delight, about 5–7 minutes. Once golden and aromatic, remove it from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté Garlic: In the same skillet, add a touch more olive oil if needed, then toss in the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute, until it turns fragrant and golden.
- Make the Sauce: Pour in the BBQ sauce, honey, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well, letting the mixture simmer for 2–3 minutes until it slightly thickens.
- Combine and Toss: Return the sausage to the skillet, adding the drained pasta. Toss everything together, ensuring each piece is generously coated in the sauce.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle fresh parsley over the top, and serve hot.
Notes
Feel free to get creative with substitutions. Turkey sausage and gluten-free pasta work well as alternatives.
