Description

Delightful heart-shaped pastries filled with creamy goodness and juicy strawberries.


Ingredients

  • 1 package of store-bought puff pastry
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: extra powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it’s about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Cut the pastry into heart shapes using a heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  4. Make the filling: In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  5. Place a dollop of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each heart, avoiding overfilling.
  6. Add a few slices of fresh strawberries atop the cream cheese filling.
  7. Fold the edges of the heart pastry slightly over the filling.
  8. Brush the edges with the beaten egg.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the cream cheese filling a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Chill danishes before baking if your kitchen is warm.
