Ingredients
Scale
- ¾ cup warm milk (110°F)
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Blue gel food coloring
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- ½ cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos)
- ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2–3 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)
- ½ cup crushed chocolate cookies
- Extra mini chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Stir in the granulated sugar, egg, egg yolk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix in 2 cups of flour with the salt. Slowly add additional flour until the dough comes together. Add the blue food coloring and knead until smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
- Make the Filling: In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until creamy. Fold in the crushed chocolate cookies and mini chocolate chips.
- Roll & Fill: On a floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangle (14×9 inches). Spread the filling evenly on the dough, then roll tightly into a log. Slice 12 rolls using a serrated knife.
- Second Rise & Bake: Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes until doubled in size. Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Make the Icing: Beat cream cheese and softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough milk for desired consistency.
- Assemble & Serve: Drizzle icing over warm rolls and sprinkle with crushed chocolate cookies and mini chocolate chips. Serve warm.
Notes
Make ahead: refrigerate rolled but unbaked rolls overnight. Let rise before baking. These can also be air-fried at 320°F for 15-20 minutes.
