Description

Indulge in the comforting flavors of tender beef simmered in a rich broth, served on crusty rolls with melted cheese and au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 23 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sub rolls or baguette
  • Sliced provolone or Swiss cheese
  • Au jus for dipping

Instructions

  1. Prep the roast: Place the beef chuck roast into your crockpot.
  2. Mix the magic sauce: In a separate bowl, combine the onion soup mix, beef broth, water, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir until blended.
  3. Set it and forget it: Cover your crockpot and choose the cooking time—low for 7-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
  4. Shred the beef: When ready, take out the roast and use two forks to shred the meat.
  5. Assemble your sandwiches: Pile the shredded beef onto sub rolls or baguettes, topping with cheese.
  6. Melt and serve: Heat the sandwiches in the oven if desired and serve with warm au jus.

Notes

Make ahead for even better flavor; this recipe can be customized with different cheeses.
