Description

These cookies perfectly balance the rich bitterness of dark chocolate with the sweet-tart juiciness of fresh cherries, all held together by hearty oats.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 cup fresh cherries, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure a perfect bake.
  2. Combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl. Mix until well blended.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until incorporated.
  4. Mix the oats, flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in the dark chocolate chips and chopped cherries.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a lined baking sheet, leaving space for expansion.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For chewier cookies, remove them from the oven slightly before the complete baking time. Make-ahead dough can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
