Description

A delightful burger that captures the warmth and flavors of fall with spiced apples and savory beef.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or plant-based burger
  • 1 medium apple, diced
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • Lettuce leaves for garnish
  • Sliced tomatoes for garnish
  • Optional: red onion slices

Instructions

  1. Combine the apple cider, brown sugar, diced apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and reduce for 10 minutes until thickened.
  2. Mold the ground beef (or plant-based alternative) into four equal patties, sprinkling each with salt and pepper.
  3. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until desired doneness.
  4. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
  5. Toast the whole wheat buns for 1-2 minutes on the grill until golden.
  6. Assemble the burger with the cheesy patty on the bun, drizzling with apple-cider glaze and topping with lettuce, tomatoes, and optional onions.
  7. Serve immediately to enjoy layered flavors.

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute beef with plant-based patties and cheddar cheese with non-dairy alternatives.
