Description
A traditional Lebanese flatbread infused with aromatic Za’atar, perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a delightful snack.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 3 tbsp Za’atar spice mix
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for topping)
Instructions
- Combine the all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the olive oil and warm water. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Transfer your dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until soft and elastic.
- Place the dough back into the bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about an hour.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Punch down the risen dough, roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Whisk together the Za’atar spice mix and remaining olive oil, then spread evenly over the rolled-out dough.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until edges are crisp and golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm with fresh veggies, olives, or creamy labneh.
Notes
Make-ahead: Prepare the dough the night before and refrigerate, bring to room temperature before baking. Customize with toppings like cheese or olives.
