- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter

- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat and stir in the brown sugar.
- Pour the caramelized mixture into the bottom of the cake pan, then arrange the sliced plums on top.
- Whisk together granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl.
- Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour the batter over the arranged plums.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.
