Ingredients

Scale
  • 450 g raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 60 g breadcrumbs
  • 15 g fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 ripe avocado, mashed
  • 40 g red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small jalapeño, minced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (for guacamole)
  • 4 burger buns of choice
  • Lettuce leaves and sliced tomatoes for serving

Instructions

  1. Chop the shrimp: Place the peeled and deveined shrimp in a food processor and pulse until coarsely chopped.
  2. Combine ingredients: Add the breadcrumbs, chopped cilantro, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, beaten egg, and lime juice. Mix gently.
  3. Shape the patties: Divide the shrimp mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty.
  4. Preheat the cooking surface: Heat a grill or non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  5. Cook the patties: Place the patties on the hot surface and cook for 4–5 minutes per side, until golden.
  6. Prepare the guacamole: Mash the avocado with red onion, jalapeño (if using), salt, and lime juice.
  7. Toast the buns (optional): Toast the burger buns until lightly browned.
  8. Assemble the burgers: Place a shrimp patty on each bun, spoon guacamole atop, and finish with lettuce and sliced tomatoes.
